About this company that is bent on making sure you love WordPress, and love your website.
A story...
Page.ly is the solution to a problem that all creative agencies face at some point during their lifecycle. How does a growing company go up market to larger cliental and continue to serve the budget minded customer they built their business on? Nearly all web design agencies start as 1 or 2 people doing client work creating sites for little pay. But as they grow and prosper they need to charge more, much more. Profitability and employee paychecks demand cutting out the $1000 client that they owe their early success too.
We faced this problem of saying NO to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars a week in potential client work, but it all came in little $1000-$2000 increments. So we asked ourselves; how can we continue to serve this customer whom today may be unprofitable for us, but in time could be our next major account? 3 years ago we tried this idea that is now Page.ly. Back then WordPress was not ready for primetime, our chosen brand and advertising strategy sucked, and the customers did not materialize in any significant numbers.
In April 2009 after enduring the same down economy everyone else did things started turning around. We decided the idea still had legs and the market and most importantly WordPress was a proven platform for enabling users to manage their own web content. If only someone could solve the setup and configuration headaches for the novice.
Page.ly launched in September 2009 after a complete rewrite of the code-base. Growth has been impressively strong and consistent since then and forced a move to more capable and responsive infrastructure provider nearly a year ahead of plans. And at the time of this writing signup velocity is crisp and we see competitors beginning to enter the specialized WordPress Hosting market behind us after we have proven it to be viable. Did we mention we bootstrapped it all thus far?
The reason why we built page.ly and spend all hours of the day and night improving it is simple: After nearly 8 years of running our own agency we saw a need: People want to control their online content, and they want it to be easy, portable, and worry free. Page.ly does that just that, it allows customers to create a Better Website, Fast™.
WordPress as a website platform is proven; 20 million users can't be wrong. It also has a learning curve and some technical aspects to overcome for setup and maintenance. We aim to solve those thru our managed WordPress hosting services and our painless setup.
We are immensely thankful to our friends and colleagues that we have had the pleasure of sharing this experience with, and make the following promise to our current and future customers;
We will never confuse you with products and purchase options you don't need or that only serve to pad our bottom line and offer little or no value in return. We will never oversell our server infrastructure at the expense of your website performance. And we will strive on a daily basis to improve our service and support to increase your value per dollar invested with us.
Thank you for time and consideration,
